This residency is the perfect transitional experience to attain the confidence, competency, and clinical speed for professional success, while dedicating your skills and talents to bettering the community.

- Medical emergencies
- Implant management
- Oral mucosal diseases
- Temporomandibular disorder management
- Orofacial pain management
- LGBTQ+ / HIV curriculum
- Operative dentistry
- Prosthodontic therapy

The resident practices with an assistant, as any of the staff dentists, starting with longer appointment times to become accustomed to clinic operations. Residents have the advantage of experienced faculty attendings for guidance to discuss treatment planning and case management. Many of the faculty are associated with the University of Illinois College of Dentistry and other hospitals and health care institutions. Specialists are also available for consultation.
Details and Logistics
Residents will be practicing in an integrated health center, gaining experience working in an interdisciplinary environment and will become comfortable speaking and referring to other clinical specialties. Toward the end of the program, the resident will complete a large cosmetic case under the guidance of Smile Design Consultants. Residents will participate in the program at our new dental clinic on the North Side of Chicago, offering access to the most up-to-date diagnostic and treatment instrumentation. The clinic is easily accessible by Chicago’s convenient public transportation system.
The residency is a full year, the start date is open/flexible and will end exactly one calendar year from the agreed-upon start date.
