Courtney and Tyianna, Rest in Power

Howard Brown Health mourns the loss of two vibrant trans women whose lives were cut short by an unceasing wave of transphobic violence. Courtney Eshay Key and Tyianna Alexander died tragically from violence in the past two weeks. As pivotal members of our community, their local friends and family mourn their loss and fear for the health and safety of others.

Howard Brown will continue to fight the unrelenting violence against Black transgender women, through our advocacy and education work, our clinics and community. Our sincerest condolences go to Courtney and Tyianna’s families, friends and everyone impacted by hate crimes, violence, and discrimination motivated by transphobia. We will continue forging space for the experiences of trans women of color and resisting violence against them.

You can help the Brave Space Alliance provide funeral accommodations for Courtney and Tyianna by donating to their Funeral Fund at https://actionnetwork.org/fundraising/trans-relief-fund

Courtney and Tyianna, rest in power. We will say your names aloud as a solemn commitment to fight tirelessly for dignity, safety and justice for all trans people.
