Steven Solomon is the Community Impact Officer at Howard Brown Health, where he manages the Volunteer program, Community Advisory Board and Vernita Gray Council for Philanthropy along with serving as the AIDS Run & Walk Team Captain. Howard Brown provides LGBTQ+ affirming primary care, STI/STD testing, HIV/AIDS services and Trans & Nonbinary healthcare at 11 clinics across Chicago including the Broadway Youth Center.
Prior to Howard Brown, Steven served as the Manager of Individual Giving at Center on Halsted, the largest LGBTQ Center in the Midwest, where he has been volunteering since 2007. He served as the Senior Annual Giving Officer at The Rotary Foundation serving 30 Rotary districts in the western region of North America. He was responsible for orchestrating Dr. Jane Goodall’s participation at Rotary’s 100th International Convention and serving as the primary contact for Archbishop Desmond Tutu at the Rotary World Peace Symposium in the UK. One of his greatest honors was becoming an honorary member of the Rotary Club of San Francisco-Castro which is Rotary’s first LGBTQ+ Rotary club.
He earned a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management with a concentration in Fundraising Management from Spertus College in Chicago, a Certificate in Fund Raising Management through the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, Executive Scholar Certificate in Nonprofit Management with Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and was awarded the Association of Fundraising Professionals Chamberlain Scholarship.
In his free time, Steven volunteers with Tiny Hooves Sanctuary, The Saints, Gay for Good Chicago and Old Town School of Folk Music. Steven enjoys wandering around the planet and had some good adventures in Botswana, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, India, Nepal, Taiwan, Thailand, Belize, Brazil, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Iceland and Ireland.
