Katie Metos

Vice President of External Relations

(she/they)

A graduate of DePaul University, Katie has been connected to Howard Brown since 2010 when she worked at the Brown Elephant on Halsted. As a previous intern in the Education and Outreach teams offering safer sex kits to bar patrons, Katie has long been passionate about the agency’s commitment to care across the city. In 2015, Katie joined the Development team as a Grants Coordinator and since then has overseen individual giving, institutional giving, fundraising events and communications, and operations, most recently serving as the Director of Development.

In her Development roles, Katie has helped grow behavioral health, pediatric dental services, aging services, public health, and TNB research and care at Howard Brown, among others. Throughout their career, they have supported programming in the arts, education, and social service sectors. Katie believes passionately in the mission and vision of Howard Brown and understand personally how a gender- and identity-affirming system of care can be transformative for individuals most often at the margins. Katie is married to their partner of over a decade, Stef, with whom they share two children, Levi and Tatum. She enjoys creative outlets, asking questions, and reflecting on the power of philanthropy to drive change.
