Channyn Lynne Parker to be the New CEO of Brave Space Alliance
(Chicago, IL, April 12, 2023) – Howard Brown Health would like to congratulate Channyn Lynne Parker on her acceptance of the role as the new CEO of Brave Space Alliance, a Black-led, trans-led LGBTQ+ center on the South Side of Chicago. She has previously served as the board chair for Brave Space Alliance and we see this move as a natural next step for her as she seeks to spend each day uplifting the voices of Black and trans community members. Parker will begin in her role as CEO at Brave Space Alliance on May 1st.
Channyn has been a vital member of the Howard Brown community for nearly six years and has had a significant impact on the organization: she has helped us form valuable relationships with South Side community leaders and elected officials that have allowed us to open, operate, and expand clinics in Englewood, Hyde Park, and Back of the Yards. For more than 15 years, her work with organizations like Brave Space Alliance, the Transformative Justice Law Project of IL, GLSEN, Equality Illinois, and the House of Balenciaga has positioned her as a key advocate for transformative change for all LGBTQ+ Chicagoans.
In her words:
“Every day, I bring my heart and soul into my work and have done so for nearly six years now with Howard Brown Health. I will continue this in my new role and I hope to keep the promise I have always made to my community: to uphold a commitment to mutual respect, trust, compassion, and our shared future as I move through my journey as a community leader. I look forward to creating a strong partnership between Brave Space Alliance and Howard Brown to help ensure that our community can receive the affirming, culturally competent care and resources we deserve.”
We see this as an opportunity for us to deepen our relationship with Brave Space Alliance so that we can continue to improve how we serve the Black and trans members of our community. We look forward to continuing to provide vital services and support to LGBTQ+ Chicagoans through future collaborations between our organizations.
