Lawrence Drumm, Esq.

Lawrence Drumm, Esq. is General Counsel at Howard Brown Health, where he heads the Legal & Compliance Department and oversees all legal and risk-related functions at the agency. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, he advises and counsels the agency and its leadership on a wide variety of legal, risk, contractual, regulatory, and compliance matters that help guide the agency’s strategies to advance Howard Brown’s mission of providing high-quality, affirming healthcare to all.

As General Counsel, Drumm is responsible for partnering with and providing sound legal advice to the leadership team and to a variety of internal stakeholders, as well as representing and protecting Howard Brown’s interests in its relationships with outside agencies and other entities and in a variety of outside proceedings. He helps safeguard the organization by proactively anticipating and guarding against legal risks that may impact the organization, and by providing solutions and risk mitigation strategies in response to any legal issues that may arise. As General Counsel, Drumm creates and recommends legal policies and guidelines which enhance Howard Brown’s commitment to high-quality care and impeccable ethics.

Before joining Howard Brown, Drumm spent nearly 18 years engaged in private legal practice, concentrating primarily in commercial litigation and corporate transactions. He represented a wide array of businesses, individuals, banks, creditors, trustees, and assignees in a wide range of commercial and transactional matters, with significant experience in mediation, arbitration, and the negotiation and settlement of hundreds of contracts and claims on behalf of business and banking clients. In his practice, Drumm had extensive experience advising not-for-profit entities on a variety of transactional, governance, operational, and employment matters, and had broad experience in construction, zoning, and environmental permitting and litigation. He also has extensive appellate experience in both state and federal courts.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Drumm graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame in 1992 with a degree in Government and International Relations, with a concentration in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. He received his law degree in 1996 from Chicago-Kent College of Law. He is a member of the Illinois Bar and has been admitted in the Northern District of Illinois. He has also been admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He steadfastly believes that one day his beloved Cleveland Guardians will win a World Series.
