Katy Sullivan
Council Member at Large
Katy Sullivan is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Chamberlain University after a career spanning education, real estate, and community advocacy. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Syracuse University and a Master of Education from DePaul University.
Katy spent eight years as an elementary school teacher before transitioning to residential real estate, where she worked for more than a decade as both an agent and team manager. While the industries differed, her passion remained the same: building relationships, helping people through significant life transitions, and creating a sense of trust and belonging.
An East Lakeview resident for more than 15 years, Katy has been actively involved in her community through volunteerism and advocacy. She has volunteered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as a Team in Training mentor and coach, helping athletes raise funds for lifesaving research while achieving goals they never thought possible. Her commitment to service and health equity ultimately inspired her decision to pursue nursing.
As a member of the Vernita Gray Council, Katy is honored to support Howard Brown Health’s mission of providing affirming, equitable healthcare for all. She believes everyone deserves compassionate, respectful care and is proud to advocate for an organization that has long been a cornerstone of Chicago’s LGBTQ+ community and the neighborhood she calls home.
