Derek Abbott-Molina serves as the Executive Vice President at Real Estate Institute, where he spearheads licensing education programs for professionals in the real estate, mortgage lending, and insurance industries. Additionally, Derek is a licensed Illinois Managing Broker with North Clybourn Group and a member of the Chicago Association of REALTORS.

Derek holds a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership, along with Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Project Management. A first-generation college graduate and passionate advocate for underserved youth, Derek embarked on his career in the non-profit sector, contributing significantly to community-based enrichment programs before transitioning to higher education.

Before relocating to Chicago, Derek served on the Board of Directors for Fresno’s Leading Young Professionals (FLYP) as Community Outreach Chair and graduated from the 27th class of Leadership Fresno. His dedication to community service extends beyond his professional pursuits.

In his free time, Derek enjoys exploring the local community in Logan Square with his husband, Benjamin. They share their lives with two beloved pups, Satinka and Ori. An amateur runner, Derek has participated in half and full marathons with Team to End AIDS (T2), supporting the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC).

As an active member of the LGBTQ+ community in Chicago, Derek recognizes the critical role that Howard Brown Health plays in providing healthcare equity for everyone. Grateful to be part of the Vernita Gray Council, Derek remains committed to fostering inclusivity and making a positive impact in the community.
