Starane Shepherd is currently a Neurointensivist and Assistant Professor of Neurology at Rush University Medical Center. Starane attended Howard University, in Washington D.C., for both undergraduate education and medical school followed by a Neurology residency at the University of Miami. He subsequently completed the Harvard Medical School Neurocritical Care fellowship before moving to Chicago. Starane has been recognized by the American Academy of Neurology as an emerging leader within the field of Neurology and has written for various media outlets. Starane’s passion is advancing health equity and working to eliminate disparities within healthcare and to serve as a mentor for those who are underrepresented within medicine. When not at the hospital, Starane enjoys exploring the fantastic food scene in Chicago and traveling internationally.
