Josh Hoen is an enthusiastic nonprofit leader whose mission is to build a thriving and more equitable Chicago—and have fun in the process. Josh joins the Howard Brown Health team following a nearly 14 year tenure at Teach For America, where he oversaw a wide variety of large scale change initiatives ranging from technology to philanthropy to program design and partnership. Most recently as the Chief Operating Officer for Teach For America’s Chicago office, Josh was the architect of the region’s COVID-19 response strategy. By focusing on building the organization’s capabilities for learning and innovation, he and the team were able to grow total revenue and expand programs through the first two years of the pandemic.
Josh grew up in southeastern Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2007 with a degree in Economics. Josh is a member of A Better Chicago’s Impact Council and advises early stage social impact organizations on fundraising and growth strategy. He is passionate about exploring Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods through food and the arts. Josh currently lives in Logan Square with his husband Blair and goldendoodle John.
