Statement on the House AHCA Vote

Today, the U.S. House of Representative passed the American Health Care Act (AHCA), the bill that could repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. In response, Howard Brown Health released the following statement:

“The passage of the AHCA by the U.S. House of Representatives is an egregious denial of what we know to be true: affordable and accessible healthcare coverage is vital for all Americans, and especially for low-income communities.  If the AHCA becomes law, the health and wellness of older adults, LGBTQ people, the differently abled, women, youth and other groups will decline. Without good health, everything else must take backseat, including the pursuit of economic independence.  Preserving a strong healthcare safety-net in the U.S. is critical.  As the bill moves to the senate, Howard Brown Health will do all it can to marshal the voices of our patients and clients into the public debate.”
