“Being a part of the tremendous legacy of Howard Brown, and the effort to ensure it remains a local and national treasure to the LGBTQ community, has been one the greatest honors of my life,” said Alden. “Howard Brown’s growth and strength is a testament to our dedicated staff, loyal patients, and engaged stakeholders. I leave this role more confident than ever that Howard Brown will continue to be the health system of choice and excellence for the LGBTQ community of Chicago and beyond.”
He noted the significance of transitioning the organization’s Board leadership to Treto, 32, who is Howard Brown’s first Chair of Latinx decent and only the second person of color to assume the helm of the Board.
“As a young professional, Howard Brown has played an important part in my life in meeting my unique healthcare needs as a Latino gay man,” Treto said. “As a member of the Board since 2014, I am elated that Howard Brown is now in a position to serve diverse LGBTQ people near where they live and work citywide. Deepening our commitment to all segments of the city, and people from all walks of life, is what most inspires me to serve in a leadership capacity at Howard Brown.”
