 Physicians and Healthcare Professionals Are Invited to Learn More about Best Practices and Challenges Faced by the LGBTQ Community  

WHAT: Howard Brown Health and Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center welcome physicians, nurses, residents, healthcare administrators and medical professionals to the second annual conference addressing healthcare best practices for the LGBTQ community. In recent years, social and scientific advances have rapidly changed the way the LGBTQ community thinks about their health and how they interact with the world. The goal of the symposium is to provide culturally competent and affirming resources to care providers who treat LGBTQ patients, which provides the opportunity to learn, exchange ideas and help patients live the healthiest lives possible.

In addition to covering best practices and challenges faced in LGBTQ healthcare, physicians and other allied health professionals will earn 13 hours of Continued Medical Education (CME). The symposium contains learning tracks, including:

  • LGBTQ Health Disparities
  • Best Practices for LGBTQ Healthcare
  • Advanced Practices in HIV Care
  • Transgender Health and HRT
  • Gender Affirming Care Continuum

Continental breakfast and lunch will be also provided.

WHO: This year’s featured keynote speakers include:

    • JoAnne Keatley, MSW, Director of the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), Center of Excellence for Transgender Health
    • Shane Ortega, U.S. Army Sergeant in the 25th Infantry Division and Outspoken Transgender Rights Advocate
    • Other leaders and experts in LGBTQ healthcare (Such as chest reconstructive surgery, trans family planning, LGBTQ youth psychiatric care, HIV treatment in seniors, and more)
