Justine Defreyne, MD, PhD, Researcher, Department of Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Ghent University Hospital, co-author of Effects of Gender-Affirming Hormones on Lipid, Metabolic, and Cardiac Surrogate Blood Markers in Transgender Persons
Justine Defreyne is a PhD researcher and internal medicine resident in training at Ghent University Hospital. Her supervisor is Dr. Guy T’Sjoen, one of the leading transgender care specialists worldwide and the head of the Center for Sexology and Gender at Ghent University Hospital. This gender clinic is the second largest gender clinic in Europe and combines their clinical activities with research, in order to provide insight in advances in the field of transgender care. Justine Defreyne researches physical (hematocrit, prolactin, serum estradiol levels, persistence of menstruation, fertility, cardiovascular risk) as well as psychological (quality of life, anger, aggression, stress, sexual desire, affect) effects of gender affirming therapy in transgender people. Justine Defreyne is currently the co-author of twelve international peer-reviewed manuscripts and will continue contributing knowledge to the field of transgender people.

Zil Goldstein is the Associate Medical Director for Transgender and Gender Non-binary Health at the Callen-Lorde Community Health Center and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medical Education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Throughout her career she has focused on improving health care and health care access for transgender and gender non-binary people, increasing access to primary care, hormone care, mental health care, and surgical services for the TGNB community. Working with the trans community for the past 15 years, she has founded multiple transgender medical programs and has had the opportunity to work with thousands of transgender patients in the primary care setting to support her patients in achieving optimal health.
