At Howard Brown, our specialty is providing welcoming and affirming care for lesbians and queer women.  Confidential services for all primary health care needs, including full gynecological care with referral to culturally appropriate routine health screening, and treatment for acute and chronic illnesses are available.  Here, women can also address their mental health concerns in a safe and supportive environment.

Free Pap Tests and CBEs for Uninsured Women

Howard Brown is one of thirty-six community health centers throughout Illinois that participate in the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, an Illinois Department of Public Health-administered early screening program for breast and cervical cancers. Free clinical breast exams and free pap smears are available to all low-income, uninsured or underinsured women.

EXPOSE Drop-In

In an effort to make healthcare as accessible as possible, LCCP, the lesbian heart of Howard Brown Health Center, hosts a monthly lesbian health drop-in on the last Wednesday of every month. 

Free breast and cervical cancer screenings are available to uninsured women at each drop-in.  Other healthcare services are made available on a highly-affordable, sliding scale fee basis.  Many forms of insurance are accepted, plus information on a wide variety of health topics will be available.

Drop-In Schedule:

6-8pm: Medical Drop-In--See a woman provider right away.

6-8pm: Mental Health Drop-In--Talk with a mental health professional.

6-7pm: Health Salon--a rotating list of topics presented informally by an expert.
