A peer-based staff person responsible for co-facilitating a group-level intervention targeting young transgender women of color and for conducting outreach in order to recruit and retain participants for the intervention. Principal Duties and Responsibilities*: 1. Co-facilitate a group-level HIV prevention intervention based on a curriculum developed from a CDC behavioral intervention.
2. Conduct ongoing outreach targeting young transgender women of color in order to enroll them into the group intervention.
3. Promote participants’ retention in group intervention by conducting follow-up phone calls, emails and visits.
4. Conduct activities associated with group set-up, including ordering food, organizing session materials and decorating room.
5. Staff a weekly social support group for transgender and gender questioning youth.
6. Perform administrative tasks at the directive of TWISTA program coordinator.
7. Participate in regular supervision.
8. Maintain all programmatic policies and protocols.
9. Maintain accurate, up-to-date information on HIV transmission and prevention, as well as continue to develop facilitation and recruitment skills through ongoing training.
10. Attend all programmatic, departmental, agency, and other necessary meetings/trainings.
11. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: HS Diploma, BA or equivalent preferred; excellent written and oral communication skills required; excellent interpersonal and organization skills necessary; knowledge about HIV/AIDS and understanding of the transgender youth community is essential. Professional experience in recruitment and facilitation is highly desirable. Bilingual, Spanish-speaking highly regarded. Working Conditions: Non-traditional, high paced work environment designed to provide comprehensive health care and social services, including medical care, psychotherapy, case management, and drop-in services, to at-risk youth.
