Volunteer Opportunities - Special Events

Special Event Volunteer Opportunities


Looking for one-time volunteer opportunities to fit your schedule? There are several special events for which we need volunteer support.


Current opportunities include:



Summer Festival Events


Summer is fast approaching and Howard Brown Health Center needs volunteers to help out at several exciting events!  Volunteers will staff Howard Brown resource tables, pass out brochures, and answer visitors’ questions.  Volunteers must be comfortable working with the public.

There are two volunteer shifts a day and each shift is 4 hours.  Typical shifts run from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

If you are interested in any of the following opportunities, please email volunteer@howardbrown.org and indicate which event(s) you would like to volunteer at.  (For events lasting multiple days, please indicate which days you are available.)  We will contact you soon with more information.


What: Hyde Park Jazz Fest  

When:
Saturday, Sept 29 and Sunday, Sept 30
Shifts are 10:45 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. and/or 2:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. 

Where: Hyde Park neighborhood

About the event: In its fifth year, the Hyde Park Jazz Fest offers over 20 hours of music during the course of a weekend at venues throughout the neighborhood. This year the festival is expected to bring in 20,000 spectators and over 150 local musicians, in addition to multiple vendors, organizations, and other tablers.



What: AIDS Run/Walk

When: Saturday, September 29, 7:30 – 11 a.m.

Where: Soldier Field
